Friction Fun!

Golly that week has gone in a flash!

We have started our new topic on bees and have been very busy researching facts ready to share in our assembly next week.  We are learning about all their incredible jobs both within and outside of the hive.

We had a fantastic (albeit rather chilly) afternoon doing experiments to deepen our understanding on friction. We soon learnt how friction can help to keep our hands warm!

Mr Campbell's experiment involved timing the effect of friction on a ball rolling down a ramp according to differing heights:

Mrs Wallace's experiment was using a Newton meter to measuring the force of a shoe along differing surfaces.

Mrs Donaldson's experiment was timing the ease/difficulty of moving jelly from one plate to another when changing its surface.

Great fun was had by all and of course we came up with some great predictions and interesting conclusions! Aiden is a whizz at using chopsticks!

Have a great weekend everybody!
